Just yesterday (January 8) a small group
from among Beneath the Wisteria
supporters agreed that the time for niceties had past.
And then today a story in today’s Age: “Keep your cool, but it is going to get hotter” quoted the convener of the human health division at the Australian University’s Climate Change Adaptation Network, Liz Hanna.
And then today a story in today’s Age: “Keep your cool, but it is going to get hotter” quoted the convener of the human health division at the Australian University’s Climate Change Adaptation Network, Liz Hanna.
She
said: ‘‘We are well past the time of
niceties, of avoiding the dire nature of what is unfolding, and politely trying
not to scare the public. The unparalleled setting of new heat extremes is
forcing the continual upwards trending of warming predictions for the future,
and the timescale is contracting.’’
The story by Age environment reporter, Ben Cubby, was alarming and clearly
illustrated that a positive response to climate change is urgent and needs to
be broad in its scope.
