Personal
responses to our changing climate will be discussed at Saturday’s (November 24)
gathering in Shepparton’s Maude St Mall.
Those who
gather Beneath the Wisteria to discuss societal response to climate change will
be encouraged to talk about personal responses, no matter how small or
seemingly insignificant.
Organizer,
Robert McLean, said that group also plans to discuss the outcome of the recent
city council election, how the city is subsequently placed in relation to
climate change, resilience and sustainability and what, if anything, the group
or individuals can do about influencing those matters.
Shepparton’s
newly appointed Mayor, Cr Jenny Houlihan, is on the mail-out list for the group
and has attended at least one of the monthly meetings.
More than
50 people, some from Melbourne, one from Canberra and a few from Queensland,
are also on the mail-out list for regular updates to the group’s blog at http://beneaththewisteria.blogspot.com.au/.
Some seating
is provided in the mall where the group gathers, but those intending to attend
are encouraged to bring a folding chair.
Saturday’s
gathering will be held in the shadows of the United Nations Climate Change Conference at Doha , Qatar ,
that runs from November 26 through to early December.
