All ten candidates for the Murray Electorate in next month’s
Federal election have been invited to join discussions Beneath the Wisteria
in Shepparton on Saturday, August 31.
However, just one, Catriona Thoolen, of the Palmer United
Party, has agreed to attend, Tristan Hellew of the Sex Party, has apologised,
and unsure were independent, Wendy Buck, and of Fern Summer, of the Bullet
Train for Australia Party.
Organiser of August 31 gathering, John Pettigrew, has
approached each of the candidates via email inviting them to explain how they
would slow our carbon dioxide emissions.
His invite reads:
“Community
members who meet under the banner of Beneath the Wisteria applaud all
candidates on their preparedness to nominate for the electorate of Murray in
the upcoming Federal election.
“Beneath
the Wisteria” meets each month in Shepparton’s Maude St Mall to discuss
individual and a community response to climate change.
At our
next gathering on Saturday the 31st of August all candidates are invited to meet
with and join in our discussion on the stated carbon reduction policies of
parties and individuals.
Meeting
at 11.30am this is an opportunity for all candidates to mix and meet with the
community in a respectful and non-threatening environment and take part in
discussions that we expect will attract local media interest.
Please
regard this as a personal invitation to meet with us at the northern end of the
Mall.
For
further details contact John Pettigrew 5826 9557.
Members
of the public are invited to join the free gathering. Some community seating is
available, but those intending to attend, should bring a folding chair.
