Nothing is said about 'moral challenge' or 'market failure'

Rob Gell - he is disillusioned
with the media.
Climate change has been described as humanity’s greatest ever moral challenge and a momentous market failure.

Present Australian PM, Kevin Rudd, was responsible for the “moral challenge” and it was Nicholas Stern who produced a 700-page report about the effect of global warming on the world economy who discussed “market failure”.

The observations of both these men have obviously failed to capture public attention or, probably more importantly, the imagination of the national media.

A senior lecturer in Communications and Media Studies at Monash University, David Holmes, has written about the lamentable failure of the media in a recent article on the Climate Spectator headed: “Where is the scrutiny of ‘the greatest moral challenge of our time’?"

Speaking at the recent “Slap Tomorrow – A Wake-Up Call” forum in Shepparton, Rob Gell discussed, in answer to a question from the audience, his disappointment with the media with regard its response to, and treatment of, the climate change delimma.
