Teaching us about art, and sustainability

Nathalia might be small but
 it has beautiful heart.
Tiny Nathalia has become noted for doing some big things.

Its history as a busy northern Victorian timber town and being an integral part of a rich farming area is now being even further enhanced.

In recent years it has become known for its art and now it is being actively introduced to sustainable gardening.

Veronica Kelly arrived in Nathalia some 12 years ago and since then has introduced the annual “Art Windows” display to the town, partnered her husband, Bill, in the establishment of the G.R.A.I.N. Store in Blake St as the district’s art hub and for the past three years has given people the opportunity to look at her sustainable garden.

With just a small block to work with, Veronica has created her sustainable garden with many recycled materials, native and drought tolerant plants, including personally created totally drought resistant and flood tolerant flowers.

Along with her garden, Veronica, who has mosaic classes for both children and adults, will also show much of her work.

People will be able to see the open garden and Veronica’s work on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, November 7, 8 and 9 at her home at 36 Blake St (that’s the town’s main street), Nathalia.
