Education will help
us understand the road map of the future.
Historian and current president of the International Big History Association, David Christian, believes that plotting a path to the
future begins with understanding our history.
The New York born graduate of Oxford University believes a
multi-disciplinary approach to education will give us the necessary skills to
understand where we came from and where we are going.
He is eager to see the idea of “Big history” become an overarching
part of school curriculums and philanthropist Bill Gates agrees in that he is
personally funding Christian’s effort to develop a program to bring the course
to secondary students throughout the world.

in which he explains his idea, emphasising its importance.
In the final minutes of the presentation he touches on our
exploitation of fossil fuels and how that understanding threatens our existence
and, in fact, that of all life on earth.
