"Act now, before it is too late" becoming a weary chorus

“It’s not too late if we act now” is becoming a rather weary chorus.

Climatologists and others have been warning us for years about the impending catastrophe of climate change and repeatedly urged us to “act now”.

Most of us have ignored those warnings and climate change and the immeasurable changes it will bring, has continued its inexorable advance.

Rather than respond to the “It’s not too late if we act now” warnings, we have clung to, wrongly as it can be shown, the idea of profit and growth and simply worsened and already difficult situation.

The Age outlined what it considered a low-cost solution in a story headed: “UN calls for drasticaction to stop climate change”.

Some aspects of the low-cost solution seems reasonable, but the idea of carbon capture and storage is an unproved technology and to rely on it is a fallacy, but an attractive option for those whose interest is in business as usual.
