The Surf Coast Energy Group wants to know if “bigger
is better”.
Subsequently is has
organized a forum at which the question, “Growth – is bigger better” will be
examined.
Speaking at the
November 16 forum will be Prof Ian Lowe of the Griffiths University; University
of Melbourne’s Prof David Karoly, who was a lead author for an IPCC report; and
Geoff Carr of Ecology Australia.
The forum, which will
be held at the Quiksilver Auditorium at 27 Baines Crescent, Torquay, starts at
two o’clock and continues through to 5:30pm.
Comedian and advisor
to the Melbourne Sustainable Society Institute at the University of Melbourne,
Rod Quantock, will be the forum’s MC.
A further highlight
to an already informative program will be a state election question and answer
session for candidates in the South Barwon electorate.
People with any
questions can contact the organizers.
Surf Coast Energy Group spokesman, Graeme Stockton, said the forum is happening in an area which
is targeted for high population growth and this, he said, will be topical both
locally and in the wider sense.
