Solar energy could
dominate the electricity market by 2050, according to the Scientific American.
The plummeting costs of providing solar power are discussed
in a story headed: “Solar Energy Could Dominate Electricity by 2050”.
According to the story the International Energy Agency (IEA)
reports that solar photovoltaic (PV) systems could generate up to 16 percent of
the world's electricity by 2050, while solar thermal electricity (STE) - from
"concentrating" solar power plants - could provide a further 11
percent.
