Changing the world 'one pee at a time'

We have the answer to one of the world’s difficulties, in our bladders.

Well, not totally, but our urine is a rich source of phosphorous and each of us could help if we made a small daily donation to this important and depleting resource.

Writing in The Saturday Paper Ceridwen Dovey told readers about the important role “funny dunnies” could play in years to come.

Her story, headed: “UTS gives pees a chance with urine-diverting toilet trial” discusses a trial with urine diverting toilets.

She explained that we depend on phosphate fertilisers to boost crop yields for global food production, and funny dunny researchers estimate that we will reach peak phosphorus within 20 to 50 years and yet we wantonly pee out phosphorus, wasting a precious resource.
