ALEC appears fine, but is sinister in intent

T

he American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) is contradictory in appearance and intent.

Many see ALEC as being contrary
to the goals of democracy.
It appears to be everything that reasonable people could hope for, but its intent is sinister.

According to its website, ALEC is non-profit organization, providing a constructive forum for state legislators and private sector leaders to discuss and exchange practical, state-level public policy issues.

It says, “The potential solutions discussed at ALEC focus on free markets, limited government and constitutional division of powers between the federal and state governments.

“The organization respects diversity of thought; it is a non-partisan resource for its members, which include more than 2,000 Republican and Democratic state legislators.”

Hidden within those flowery phases is the undeniable fact the ALEC, which is influential in American politics, and so the state of the world, is a blatant denier of climate change, heavily supported by corporate America and arrives at its policies behind closed doors.

The website, “ALEC and climate change denial” takes us closer to understanding this contradictory body.
