Our 'wonder' is in trouble and its security demands an international response

A

ustralia’s Great Barrier Reef is in dire trouble and most anything proposed by the present Coalition Government will not save it.

The health of what is one of the world’s wonders, although it is not among the classic “Seven Wonders of the World”, it is an international issue that demands and international response.

Early tomorrow morning, Saturday, May 30, the United Nations will decide whether or not the reef is endangered.

Tom Arup and Lisa Cox have written in today’s Melbourne Age about the reef and its future in a story headed: “Will the Great Barrier Reef be declared endangered by the United Nations”.
