Carbon Capture and Storage - unproven, distant dream or worth pursuing?

C

arbon capture and storage (CCS) is an unproven technology and mostly a distant dream.

However, many still see it as an idea, a technology, worth pursuing, even though it has not yet passed through the early testing stages.

Some, though, consider it a bad thing as the general population would see it as an end to the carbon dioxide emissions difficulty and so excitedly continue their consumptive and earth abusive lifestyles.

That has not discouraged those enthused by the idea, including the Australian Government that in 2009 initially funded the Global CCS Institute whose mission is “to accelerate the development, demonstration and deployment of CCS globally.”

The institute’s vision  says “CCS is a vital technology with which to tackle climate change and provide energy security.”
