Global warming not an agricultural priority for Australia

A

ustralia’s Agricultural Competitiveness White Paper released this morning white paper has five key priority areas, but addressing global warming is not one of them.

Agriculture Minister, Barnaby Joyce.
Prime Minister Tony Abbott said the white paper was a vital part of the Government's plan to build "a strong, prosperous economy and a safe, secure Australia".

However, Mr Abbott’s “safe, secure, strong and prosperous Australia” is not one prepared to address or deal with a remarkably different climate.

He said, "A strong agriculture sector contributes to a strong economy, and that means more jobs, more exports, higher incomes and better services to the community," none of which, of course will be available as the world’s seriously disrupted climate system continues to deteriorate.

Mr Abbott, Mr Joyce and their coalition cohort continue to govern Australia as if this was mid last century.
