Early and fierce, global warming worsens bushfires

ushfires of the last few days in New South Wales’ Blue Mountains maybe suspicious, but conditions worsened by global warming made the fires more difficult to control and strikingly unusual for this time of the year.

And while fire fighters in New South Wales face an unusual dilemma, in California are wrestling with wildfires tearing across the countryside in dry, hot conditions Australia will certainly experience as the summer really hots up.

The ABC tells readers that, “Thousands of firefighters have been battling raging wildfires throughout drought-parched California, where officials have evacuated entire neighbourhoods and closed off kilometres of highway in the path of the inferno.”
