ctober rainfall was
below average for most of Australia, although above average for most of the
northern half of Western Australia. Monthly rainfall was the lowest on record
for most of Tasmania and an area spanning the southwest of Victoria and
southeastern South Australia.
For Tasmania as a whole, it was the driest October on
record, while for Victoria it was the seventh-driest October and for South
Australia the equal-seventh driest. Nationally, rainfall was 53% below average.
