Call in today's Age for climate action

Joseph Romm.
Burwood’s Barbara Fraser wrote in today’s Melbourne Age:

Step up climate action

"Yes, Imogen Jubb, the world's climate change crisis demands far more effective climate action from us all (Comment, 8/1). Top climate scientist Joseph Romm says "the defining story of the 21st century is a race between the impacts our cumulative carbon emissions will increasingly have on our climate system and humanity's belated but accelerating efforts to replace fossil fuels with carbon-free energy". Romm is particularly concerned about ongoing peat fires and massive bush and wildfires increasing greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, and about large releases of methane from under melting ice leading to a tipping point.
Our government must recognise that a healthy environment and climate are the basic conditions for work productivity and innovation, and lead with genuine policy action.”
