Much of Tasmania enveloped in as bushfires plague the state

A MULTI-AGENCY response involving more than 250 personnel is battling to put out up to 60 vegetation fires around the state.
The rush is on to bring the fires under control before forecast hot and windy conditions hit the state tomorrow.
Much of the state was enveloped in a thick layer of smoke yesterday affecting visibility and air quality in the Greater Hobart, southern regions and on the West Coast.

(Climate change will worsen the likelihood of bushfires throughout Australia – this story tells of problems in Tasmania; there is a fire today in bush on the Mornington Peninsula at Crib Point which has destroyed at least one home and damaged several others; and only recently large areas in south west Western Australia were ablaze killing people and destroying many homes – Robert McLean).
