Peter eager to whip tree clearing laws into shape

Lydia Burton writes about concerns that
a national approach to tree clearing
laws was bad for the environment.
A western Queensland environmentalist says the Federal Opposition's climate policy fails to recognise ecosystem diversity across Australia.

Yesterday, Labor revealed its climate change policy it's taking to the election, which included promising to use the power of the Federal Parliament, to tighten restrictions on land clearing.

Climate Champion and grazier, Peter Whip said a national approach to tree clearing laws would be bad for the environment.

"Managing environments is not just about trees and it is not just about carbon, there is much more to an ecosystem than just trees," he said.
