Microsoft commits to 50% renewable energy for data centres by 2018

Data centres, or server farms as some know them, are major contributors to the world’s worsening greenhouse gas problem.

It has been said that the need to create energy for these places, presently almost entirely generated by fossil fuels, is among the largest contributors to human-induced disruption of the atmosphere.

There has been considerable rhetoric about resolving this issue and now Microsoft claims it will be powering its data centre with renewable energy within two years.
