Wild storm hits Coolum, causes serious, isolated, damage

A GARAGE was crushed by a falling tree and a carport was badly damaged in a wild storm which tore through Coolum in the early hours of the morning.

Large limbs were torn of trees when the storm hit about 4.15am, causing serious damage in a small pocket around Banksia Ave and Central Ave.

Paul Minehan, who lives in nearby Jones Pde, described the storm as "pretty intense".
