Sydney rocks oysters, hairy mussels and leafoysters are growing together in gardens offpontoons on Queensland's Bribie Island |
Ben Diggles from Restore Pumicestone Passage said the area
used to have large sub-tidal reefs, but many had been lost through urban
development and increased sedimentation of the waterways.
He now wants to create replica reefs around Pumicestone
Passage, just north of Brisbane, populated with native oysters beds to help
improve water quality.

story - “Lost reefs restored with Queensland community's oyster gardening project.”
