It's Thursday, brace yourself for another storm

Heavy rains, thunderstorms and hail
are expected; it is Thursday afterall.
Parts of Melbourne will be lashed by a major thunderstorm on Thursday, bringing with it rainfall of the magnitude of last week's one-in-100-year storm - except this time we can expect hail as well.

Heavy rainfall and hail of 20mm to 50mm could fall across the state. Melbourne could expect the storm to hit between 2pm and 5pm, Stephen King, senior forecaster for the Bureau of Meteorology said.

Mr King said Melbourne's northern suburbs could expect to bear the brunt of the slow-moving, heavy rain with falls becoming lighter in southern areas.

Earlier in the day, smaller thunderstorms had already hit the Wimmera, Mallee, Daylesford and Ballarat, but had not yet produced rain in the bureau's gauges.
