NOAA and NASA announced Wednesday that 2016 was the warmest
year on record for Earth.
Several other organizations, which also track the Earth’s
temperatures, also concluded 2016 was record-warm:

In NOAA’s analysis, temperatures over both the land and
ocean reached record highs. No land area was cooler than average.
