No silver bullet' on power prices: Frydenberg

With retail power prices spiking by as much as 20 per cent last month, Australia now has some of the highest electricity costs in the world.

Energy Minister, Josh Frydenberg
- no silver bullet.
The Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has called power company chiefs to Canberra this morning to "please explain" — and to demand an overhaul of their pricing plans to ensure greater transparency when its comes to customer contracts.

Energy Minister, Josh Frydenberg told Breakfast, "We certainly want from (the companies) a clear commitment to help the low income households ... so they can compare the discounts”.

Read/listen to the Radio National interview by Fran Kelly with Energy Minister, Josh Frydenberg - “‘No silver bullet' on power prices: Frydenbergo.”

(The Federal Government’s blind adherence to privatization and market-driven system has lead to a frightening growth in energy prices and a plethora of choices for consumers; choices that are so complex and convoluted that even the sharpest of minds seem to abandon any hope of understanding the much lauded offers and so turn to renewable energy.
The government needs to free itself of its fossil fuel mindset, set a renewable energy target, and throw its weight behind moves to bring Australia into the 21st Century - sadly we have a government that is governing as if we are still in the 20th Century)
