Queen Victoria Market to ban plastic bags

Queen Victoria Market will ban plastic bags, following the lead of our major supermarkets.
Goodbye plastic: Queen Victoria Market has resolved
to phase out single-use plastic bags in 2019.
As Coles and Woolworths on Monday announced a slew of new measures to slash plastic waste, Queen Victoria Market management said by next year, their goods will no longer be sold in single-use plastic bags.

The market will consult with traders on the exact timing, but is committed to the move.
In a statement to The Age, Queen Victoria Market CEO Stan Liacos said the market had recently handed customers more than 1500 reusable tote bags, and reusable bags were available to purchase.
