Little encouragement is to be found in the Bureau of Meteorology’s “Climate outlook for December to February”.
The conditions Australia has experienced this year are going to pretty much continue - it seems like we are in for a hot and dry few months.
The days are doing to be warmer than average and to make life for most of us even worse, the nights are also going to be hotter than average.
While the daytime temperatures are decidedly problematic, it is the hotter than average nighttime temperatures that can worsen the difficulty as it is during the cooler nights that peoples’ bodies rebuild and recover.
However, if the nights are warmer than usual, people miss out on sleep and so are physically and mentally less prepared than they would have ideally been had the night been cooler.
