Queen Victoria Market Ditches Plastic Bags and Straws

Major retailers have been making moves to ban plastic bags for a bit over a year now, with varying success (never forget the Coles plastic bag backflip bamboozling). And South Melbourne Market ditched the wispy devils in April last year.
Melbourne's Queen Victoria Market.
Now Melbourne’s most iconic market is nixing plastic bags, and on top of that it’ll also be getting rid of plastic straws.

From May 14, Queen Vic Market traders will no longer give away complimentary plastic bags and straws. Instead customers will be able to hire a trolley from Market Espresso on Queen Street, or pick up a cardboard box from locations on Queen Street and I Shed – look out for the green “Pick-a-Box” signs.
