Seventh annual Swanpool Environmental Film Festival

Coming up is the 7th Swanpool Environmental Film Festival.

The 2019 festival will be held at Swanpool Cinema on Saturday, June 15, from 1.00pm until 9.40pm.  It will follow the usual format of three sessions with breaks for afternoon tea and an evening meal.

Speakers and films for the three sessions are:
Session One: Dr Tilman Ruff and film 'System Error'.
Session Two: Prof Samantha Hepburn and a Short Enviro Film Fest.
Session Three: Prof Tim Reeves and film '2040'.

Guest speaker Dr Tilman Ruff AM is Associate Professor at Melbourne University’s School of Population and Global Health.  Professor Samantha Hepburn is Director of Deakin’s Centre for Energy and Natural Resources, and Professor of Property Law at Deakin Law School.

Professor Tim Reeves was recently appointed first Professor in Residence at the Dookie agricultural campus.  Tim is a distinguished international leader in agricultural research, development and extension.

Attendees will be particularly interested to hear Tilman's talk.  Tilman and his wife Charlotte are landholders in the Lima East valley and he tells us that he will bring along the Nobel Peace Prize medal for display at the SEFF 2019.

Professor Samantha Hepburn's talk is very relevant to our times with environmental laws and determinations being challenged.

Professor Tim Reeves spoke recently about local food production at a Water Forum in Euroa.  At the SEFF he will present us with a global perspective.

The feature films are excellent with the film '2040' being requested by previous attendees.  This year the inclusion of a Short Enviro Film Fest allows us to present some excellent talks, poems, short films and newsreels as well as giving a visual update on local matters.

The event is brought to you by Swanpool Landcare and Benalla Sustainable Future Group.  We thank the Gecko CLaN, GBCMA, Benalla Permaculture and Granite Creeks Landcare Network once again for their support.

The cost for the whole event including full catering remains at $30 total.  Booking this year is strictly online at www.trybooking.com/BCBBX.  If you have a real problem in doing so then contact David on 0498 007 988.  Doors open at 12.30pm.
