Copenhagen: It’s the summer solstice and Europe is sweltering through an unusually fierce June heatwave: another climate alarm in a baking world.

In Paris they’re closing schools and turning away trucks and old diesel cars from the city centre. In Germany they’re putting speed limits on the cracking, bubbling autobahns and ordering sweaty nudists to put their pants back on.
At a Copenhagen wine bar on the banks of the glistening harbour, youths jump from the tables into the cool salt water to wash off the 6pm heat, then climb out to sip their organic wine and soak up a tan.
