Years of low rainfall have left Gippsland facing the threat of another harsh bushfire season this summer.

The latest bushfire outlook paints a worrying picture for areas in the state's east, with the combination of dry soil and heavy forest fuel leading to above average conditions for fire.
The threat extends across the coastal and foothill forests of east Gippsland, as well as west Gippsland and the Great Dividing Range.
