Scott Morrison has urged drought-stricken farmers not to be too proud to ask for help as the federal government overhauls its maligned financial support program.

The Prime Minister said a new support package to deliver almost $100 million to drought-hit communities across four states was not welfare, but "helping people make sure that they can maintain viability”.
