Climate change deniers rarer than imagined

Maybe climate change deniers are, according to CSRIO research, rarer than we imagine.

However, it is not their rarity that is the real issue, it is the amount of noise those who deny the realities of climate change and how the loudness of their voice is amplified by the prominence they are given within our media.

Complicating that is the fact that although an increasing number of people acknowledge the complications and implications of our warming planet, few people have the knowledge, or courage, to respond appropriately.

A story published on TheConversation headed: “Climate change deniers are rarer than we think” told a two-year survey that sought the opinions of more than 5000 Australians.

Although most don’t deny that humans have damaged our climate, we, it seems, are so addicted to the lifestyle we lead that few of us able to confront the fact that serious adaptation to our changing climate will only happen when we abandon, almost totally how we live.

Subsequently we simply don’t know what to do.
