Need I say any more,
and I apologise for sending this, but is reinforces my view and undoubtedly
that of many Beneath the Wisteria
supporters that the present response at societal level is absolutely inadequate.
I read this just today (October 30, 2013) – Robert.
In November 2012, the international accounting firm Price,
Waterhouse Coopers issued a rather dire warning for the future of business on
the planet. After all, if the human race is reduced to living in caves, or is
extinct nobody is going to buy or sell anything.
In their news release sent out internationally and entitled “Business
of Usual is Not an Option” as current rates of emissions reduction point to 6C
of warming”, Jonathan Grant, director of sustainability and climate change
said.
“The new reality is a
much more challenging future in terms
of planning, financing and predictability. Even doubling our current rates of decarbonisation
globally every year to 2050, would still lead to 6C, making governments’
ambitions to limit warming to 2C appear highly unrealistic.”
Just a few months after the Price, Waterhouse, Cooper
report, the World Bank came out with a detailed study confirming that unless
radical are taken soon, the world would be looking at a five degree Celsius
increase in temperature, purely from the burning of fossil fuels.
