Perverse urgency for world community

A perverse urgency faces the world community as it must take steps immediately to end its carbon dioxide emissions.

A Bloomberg story headed: “Six Decades Left to Eliminate All CO2 Emissions, UN Says” emphasizes that need.

“The world must halt fossil-fuel emissions within the next six decades to stave off irreversible impacts that may stem from a warming planet, the United Nations said”, it reports.

Interestingly the urgency is not about simply slowing our emissions, rather it is about eliminating them completely, something that is blatantly impossible under a business as usual scenario.
