Tony Abbott may have
many talents, but understanding that what we do now impacts dramatically on our
future is not one of them.
Defending his stance not to allow the focus of Brisbane’s
G20 conference to embrace climate change, the Australian Prime Minister claims
that he and his government is making decisions about “now” and not things that
may or may not happen in 16 years.
What escapes his understanding that what we do now will unequivocally
impact on the lives of Australians in the future.
Writing an opinion piece in The Age, chief political
correspondent, Mark Kenny, has commented about Abbott’s ideological blind spot
in “Emissions deal: Abbott looks like a shag on a rock”.
