he Carbon Market
Institute is a national, independent, not-for-profit, membership-based
organisation headquartered in Melbourne.
Coinciding with unprecedented debate on climate change
policy in Australia and at a critical juncture in the development of
international climate policy and carbon markets, CMI was established with
support from the Victorian Government.
CMI incorporates and builds on the networks, partnerships
and services developed by the former Asia-Pacific Emissions Trading Forum
(AETF) which began operations in 1998.
The Institute commenced operations on January 1, 2011, with
a mandate to assist Australian business with the implementation of
climate-related markets, both in terms of managing risk and realising business
opportunities.
The “Second Australian Emissions Reduction Summit” starts
tomorrow (May 5) in Melbourne tomorrow.
