wning an Amazon
Kindle (an electronic reader) has long left me feeling confused and conflicted.
Personal justification is that the wonderfully convenient
and effective device is more environmentally friendly than the use of paper to
print books and then transport them around the world.
That is, of course, until consideration is given to the
massive power needs of the huge server “farms” Amazon maintains in America.
Softening that concern, just a little, is the news that
Amazon has plan to create an 80 megawatt solar farm to help power its web services
data centres.
Treehugger writes about this development - “Amazon to build large 80-MW solar farm in Virginia”.
