World species death and human health connected

L

aments for the damage humans were causing to world’s species were voiced just a few days ago by Canada’s Professor Trevor Hancock and today his concerns were echoed in the Melbourne Age.

Professor Trevor Hancock spoke
here, the Melbourne Royal
Australasian College of
Surgeons, lamenting the
death of the world's species.
His lament came during a public lecture, entitled “Building Community Capital Healthy, sustainable and liveable communities” was staged by the Department of Health and Human Services at the Melbourne’s Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

Professor Hancock was alarmed at the human induced desecration of the world’s species and the impact that will have on public health.

Now in today’s Age, environment reporter Lucy Cormack reports on the death of those species in a story headed: “World Wide Fund for Nature says nearly half the world's marine animals wiped out in single generation”.
