The so-called one-shot disposable pods used in machines now
so common in households around the world are mounting up at an almost
incomprehensible rate and the “throwaway” cups ubiquitous and common to almost
every coffee shop bring their own challenges.
Just as the "one-shot pods” are a most certainly not
environmentally friendly, the throw-away cup is almost as equally damaging to
our environment.
Katherine Martinko argues that both these difficulties could
be ended, or certainly lessened, if we all followed the Italian approach to
coffee.
