Tim Flannery on need for a climate emergency declaration

The need for the declaration of climate emergency will be discussed next month by Professor Tim Flannery.

The writer, scientist, and conservationist will be the keynote speaker at a public forum organized by the Bayside Climate Change Action Group (BCCAG).

Professor Flannery will address the question: “Why we must declare a climate emergency”.

Speaking with Prof Flannery will be Laura Sykes from the Australian Youth Climate Coalition (AYCC) and the CEO of the Moreland Energy Foundation, Alison Rowe.

Laura, who is the national school's program coordinator for the AYCC will discuss “Repowering our school's campaign”, while Alison, who is also the chair of the Future Business Council, will consider “Untapped opportunities for business in the shift to a zero economy”.

The Wednesday, February 15, event will be held at the Rosstrevor Hall at the Brighton Grammar School starting at 7:30 pm and although the evening is free people should book and can do so at BCCAG website.

Although the forum, which is entitled “Facing the climate crisis: Challenges for government, business, and the community”, is free those attending are urged to make a gold coin donation to help cover costs.
