The idea that what we have now will soon be redundant exceeds the understanding of most.
Driverless cars are already reasible and, I’m hoping, they will lead to the end of the privately owned vehicles and the rise of publicly owned fleets of electric vehicles that will respond to our mobility desires within minutes via a booking made on a smart phone.
Writing in his Motherboard story and quoting a new report, Nafeez Ahmed said: “The impact of automation, it says, on both the automobile and oil industries will not just be profoundly disruptive: it will be fatal. Vast oil reserves will become stranded, and trillions of dollars in oil industry investments will become worthless, as a revolution in technology takes over.”
