Nobel Laureate Peter Doherty was recognised in 1996 for his work in medicine, but has now become an advocate for action on climate change.
Professor Doherty is based at the University of Melbourne working out of the Doherty Institute and commutes between there and the St Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, America. He now spends most of his time at the Doherty Institute.
The professor has written several books and the latest - “The Incidental Tourist: The extraordinary travel tales of an eminent scientist” - was discussed on the ABC’s Saturday Extra when Geraldine Doogue interviewed the Nobel Laureate.
His comments about the contribution flying makes to the worsening of climate change come near the end of the interview.
The book is published by Melbourne University Press.
