We know that we are a great and vibrant nation. Despite our laid-back image, we know that we are a deeply passionate people. This passion often leads us to disagree, and when we do, we hold our debates out in the open – the way a free and passionate democratic nation should.
On no other issue have we been so politically divided in recent times as on climate change. Fifteen years ago, after a particularly long and hot summer, one of our greatest prime ministers convened a special taskforce to investigate the proper design of a scheme to put a price on carbon emissions.
Read the story from The Age by Jessica Irvine - “‘How good is this carbon tax!' Psst, PM's speech falls off the back of a truck.”
