Dissecting what the candidates said, Beneath the Wisteria

Those who gather Beneath the Wisteria will have the chance on Saturday to discuss what it they want from their next representative in the Murray electorate.

Last month they had the chance to hear from nine candidates in the July 2 election and on Saturday, June 25, and this month people can dissect what was proposed and how it would impact on useful community or individual response to climate change.

Saturday’s gathering starts at 11:00am, is free and last for about an hour. Some public seating is available but those intending to attend are advised to bring a folding chair.

We meet at the northern end (near Fryers St) of the mall, obviously Beneath the Wisteria.

Beneath the Wisteria meeting on Saturday, March 31

Energy, its uses and the consequences of those applications is the theme for the Saturday, March 31 gathering Beneath the Wisteria in Shepparton.

Those eager to consider their response to climate change will meet beneath the Wisteria at the northern end of the Maude St Mall at 11:30am.

The idea of a public gathering to consider a response to climate change saw the first meeting on New Year’s Eve last year and those who attended agreed to get together at least monthly.

Subsequently the group decided it should meet at 11:30am on the last Saturday of every month, giving support and encouragement to those concerned about climate change, and its impacts, share ideas about a reasoned response and help others in the community understand implications associated with our changing climate.

Organizer, Robert McLean, said the group is absolutely informal and so those eager to participate in any way should just turn up. Some seating exists Beneath the Wisteria, but he urged people to bring along a folding chair.

He said that although the group drew its energy from its informality, there was an overt sense of respect and courtesy among those who have attended the previous three meetings.

Although the theme for Saturday is “energy”, those attending, Robert said are welcome to discuss any matter that interests them about our response to climate change.
