World-first solar train now leaving the platform in Byron Bay with zero emissions

What is claimed to be the world's first fully solar-powered train is operating on the New South Wales North Coast.

three-kilometre stretch of line in Byron Bay.
A refurbished 70-year-old 'red rattler' is running on a three-kilometre stretch of disused rail line at the popular tourist destination of Byron Bay.

It made its maiden trip yesterday with almost 100 passengers on board.

Hazelwood: After 50 years, power shut down will take just three days

Hazelwood power station which will
 be closed later this month.
 
After more than 50 years as a mainstay of Victoria's power generation industry, it will take just three days for Hazelwood to shut down.

Three of the Morwell power station's generating units will stop operating on March 27, a further three on March 28, and the final two a day later.
