The solar farm train in Northern Victoria continues to roll on,
with Naring jumping on board with a $55 million project.
British solar project developer Lightsource is building a 60MW solar farm on 122ha at 3405 Katamatite-Nathalia Rd, which will be a first for the company in Australia.

The project is set to power 17240 homes and includes 204012 solar panels.

Scientists just presented a sweeping new estimate of how much humans have transformed the planet

In this age of climate change, we naturally train our attention on all the fossil fuels being combusted for human use — but scientists have long known that what’s happening is also all about the land.
A map showing actual biomass stock estimates presented
in grams of carbon per square meter, based on a land-use
data set derived from past studies and reflecting national-level
numbers from the global Forest Resource Assessment.
Just as buried fossil fuels are filled with carbon from ancient plant and animal life, so too are living trees and vegetation on Earth’s surface today. Razing forests or plowing grasslands puts carbon in the atmosphere just like burning fossil fuels does.
Now, new research provides a surprisingly large estimate of just how consequential our treatment of land surfaces and vegetation has been for the planet and its atmosphere. If true, it’s a finding that could shape not only our response to climate change, but our understanding of ourselves as agents of planetary transformation.

World-first solar train now leaving the platform in Byron Bay with zero emissions

What is claimed to be the world's first fully solar-powered train is operating on the New South Wales North Coast.
The world's first solar-power train runs on a
three-kilometre stretch of line in Byron Bay.
A refurbished 70-year-old 'red rattler' is running on a three-kilometre stretch of disused rail line at the popular tourist destination of Byron Bay.

It made its maiden trip yesterday with almost 100 passengers on board.

Renewable energy train is leaving - let's get on board!

T

he renewable energy train is leaving the station – we had best get on board.

Sadly the world is full of procrastinator, doubters, skeptics and economists who aren’t prepared to do the sums, honestly, and so a few seats might be still empty when the train leaves.

Germany is proving all those people wrong and many in that country has done the sums, and are showing that renewable energy is both more effective, efficient, cheaper and, of course, sustainable.

Treehugger reports that German is proving the renewable energy actually works making that point in its story, “Germany is proving renewable energy naysayers wrong”.
