EPA chief: ‘True environmentalism is using natural resources that God has blessed us with’

Another day, another attempt by Trump officials to silence scientists.
Donald Trump and the head of America's
Environmental Protection Agency, Scott Pruitt.
The latest egregious example of censorship is the Environmental Protection Agency’s last-minute move to forbid three of their scientists from speaking on climate change at a long-planned conference focusing on the health of Rhode Island’s Narragansett Bay and Watershed, the New York Times reported Sunday. Of course, the health of a major coastal watershed can’t be preserved without understanding and planning for climate change.

“These efforts by the Trump administration to stifle scientific research inconvenient to its corporate masters threatens all of us,”  climatologist Michael Mann told Think Progress.

“It must not be tolerated.”

The figures speak for themselves

The figures speak for themselves – climate change is costing $billions.

It has been argued in a story on Climate Progress headed: “The $188 billion price tag from U.S extreme weather from 2011 to 2012” that damage from floods, drought, storms, and wildfires has produced an alarming and measurable cost.

The prediction in the story by Daniel J. Weiss and Jackie Weidman is that these costs will only grow over time.

Climate change, of course, has no respect for human constructs such as national boundaries and the world-wide damage from our rather sorry treatment of our atmosphere can only get worse, including in Australia.

Madmen and mass murderers

Being convinced of the science that says, incontrovertibly, humans are changing the earth’s atmosphere puts you, it seems, in direct confrontation with those who question and deny the science.

Evidence of this has appeared in the U.S on the eve of the Chicago conference and group of extremist-deniers.
Joe Romm

Romm’s story begins: “The Heartland Institute has launched one of the most offensive billboard campaigns in U.S. history. The Chicago-based anti-science think tank is comparing all those who accept climate science — and the journalists who report on it accurately — to Charles Manson, the Unabomber, and Osama Bin Laden”.

Solar energy enthusiasts will be delighted to read this report in “Think Progress” that explains how solar photo-voltaics have hit a tipping point.

The story – “Three ChartsThat Illustrate Why Solar Has Hit A True Tipping Point” – is told in a new report from global consulting firm McKinsey.
