Our meat-centred diets are not helping our climate, at all

Switching to veganism to
slow climate change.
Our meat-centred diets are worsening climate change.

Mother Jones explains in a story headed: “What if everyone in the world became a vegetarian?” that a meatless population would have a significant and measurable impact on the world’s climate.

Although it was admitted in the story that the change to a meatless diet was highly unlikely, it pointed out that researchers had predicted that universal veganism would reduce agriculture-related carbon emissions by 17 percent, methane emissions by 24 percent and nitrous oxide emissions by 21 percent.
