Henry "Hank" Paulson Jr. |
“Climate change is
the challenge of our time,” according to the former Secretary of the Treasury
in the United States, Henry “Hank” Paulson, Jr.
Mr Paulson now
the chairman of the Paulson Institute about the lessons for climate change to
be learned from the 2008 financial crash.
He discusses
those lessons in a story in the New York
Times headed: “The coming climate crash – lessons for climate change in the 2008 recession."
The Paulson
Institute, founded in 2011 by Mr Paulson, aims to promote sustainable economic
growth and a cleaner environment around the world, with a focus on the United
States and China.
Mr Paulson
wrote in the Times article: “This is a crisis we can’t afford to ignore. I feel
as if I’m watching as we fly in slow motion on a collision course toward a
giant mountain. We can see the crash coming, and yet we’re sitting on our hands
rather than altering course”.
